My Sister's BBQ Pizza

I've been bugging my readers to send me recipes and pictures of their own BBQ adventures - and I'm starting to get a response. Long Chung sent me lamb recipe via Facebook which I'll have to try; an awesome photo essay from Mo and Kristi on How-to-build-a-BBQ; not to mention some taunting photos from Jess with captions like: "look what YOU missed!" But I guess you have to start somewhere.

This post comes from my sister Rebecca in Lachine, who with the help of my constant badgering, has finally discovered the wonders of indirect heat on the BBQ:

"So today was really hot and humid, and the last thing I wanted to do was make dinner.  I found a frozen pizza in the freezer and decided that it was too hot for the oven, and it was going on the BBQ.  I called my brother for some advice, and since he didn't answer (or even call me back for that matter)[For the record I was in my car!], I had to guess what he would say.  'Indirect heat' is what I figured his advice would be. The pizza went directly on the grill for about 10-15 minutes, over very low indirect heat (which, on my incredibly hot BBQ, still came out to about 500 degrees at first), and it was perfect! Crispy crust, cheese perfectly melted, delicious and pizza-y perfection! Definitely the perfect way to not 'make' dinner."

My recommendation? Next time try making your own crust and grilling it!

Thanks Bucca! Glad you and little Theo enjoyed it!
